Hurricane Matthew Update 10-5-16 @ 8:30am - Encouraging News!

All,

Please see below comments and cautious optimism from Bill Sammler, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the NWS in Wakefield, regarding the latest storm track.  We are certainly seeing some encouraging news, but must also keep a watchful eye.  Thanks!  Jim

“Attached is the latest update for Hurricane Matthew based upon the 5am advisory this morning, which significantly lessened the potential impact to our area. There is now much better agreement among the best performing models in the future track of Matthew over the next 3-5 days. However, since there have previously been changes to the model forecasts over the last week, it is still advisable to keep an eye on Matthew, just in case a shift closer to the coast and/or further north occurs. Our Matthew Briefing Page will continue to provide the latest updates for this storm for as long as Matthew persists.”
