Hurricane Matthew NWS 5pm Update 10-5-16

All,

Hot off the press from Bill Sammler at the National Weather Service.  Thanks!  Jim

Attached is the latest briefing for Hurricane Matthew based upon the 5pm advisory. Little change has been made to the track/intensity from the 11 am advisory. Thus, there are no noticeable changes to the impacts from winds/rain/surge anticipated across our region. Due to persistent onshore flow, however, we continue to expect minor coastal flooding during the times of high tide at least through Saturday along the Atlantic coast, the Chesapeake Bay and adjacent Rivers, and possibly western portions of the Albemarle Sound (e.g. Edenton area). However, water levels are not anticipated to reach more than a foot or 2 above normal at this time.”
