“There has been
little change in the forecast overall and the worst is just starting to set
up for our region. Wind gusts to 50 mph and heavy rain have been
impacting Central NC this afternoon and these conditions will spread northeast
into south central and southeast VA s well as northeast NC this evening and
overnight. Conditions will deteriorate rapidly this evening across southeast
VA and northeast NC.
A little more rain
than previously expected has fallen over inland areas long and west of I-95.
This could result in a few more downed trees and power lines over inland areas
as winds increase this evening and tonight. However, the strongest winds and
greatest wind impacts will still occur across the Tidewater, southeast VA and
northeast NC.
Flooding is still the
primary concern along with high winds and downed trees. Wind forecasts have been increased
some and High Wind Warnings and Advisories are in effect for southeast VA and
northeast NC.
Minor to near
Moderate tidal tidal flooding is still expected Sunday into Monday along the
lower Bay and rivers with Major flooding expected along portions of the Outer
Banks near Duck, NC.”
